Multi-regional Operational Programme to Combat Discrimination

Host Country : Spain

Place and date : Córdoba , 25. - 26.10.2007

Peer countries : Bulgaria - Cyprus - Finland - Germany - Greece - Malta - Slovenia

The end objective of this programme is to facilitate the socio-labour insertion of collectives in situations, or at risk, of exclusion, such as, the gipsy community, the homeless, the disabled, immigrants, single women with family burdens, youths that have failed at school, the long-term unemployed over 50 years of age, ex–prisoners, ex–drug addicts, etc. with special emphasis on women belonging to these collectives, given that they suffer double discrimination.

The Operative Programme to Combat Discrimination conceives social intervention from an integral perspective and addresses it through flexible, dynamic and individualised insertion itineraries adapted to individuals, paying special attention to their training and empowerment. The medium-long term accompaniment of individuals is one of the most important methodological aspects of the insertion itineraries.

The empowerment and the promotion of the individuals who participate as beneficiaries of the programme is therefore a key issue here, always seeking to encourage the active participation of the groups involved in the work and their implication in their personal development.
