Network of Independent Experts on Social Inclusion: reports
Newsletter 2010-2
Publication date : 2010-06-14
In their first set of 2010 reports, the EU Network of Independent Experts
on Social Inclusion explored in detail two questions: 1. What poverty thresholds are in use in their country? 2. What poverty rates do these thresholds produce? The main purpose of these reports is to feed into an EU study on extreme
poverty, funded by the European Commission and carried out by the University of York. Its objective is to investigate
and discuss the feasibility of meaningful and agreed concepts, definitions and
operational ways of measuring extreme poverty at EU level. A workshop organised in Brussels
on 1st July will provide an opportunity to discuss the main results and conclusions
of the study from both a political and scientific perspective. For further
information on this study, which should be completed during the second half of
2010, visit: http://www.york.ac.uk/inst/spru/ research/summs/extreme.html The second set of 2010 reports of the Experts’ Network will focus on
“In-work poverty and labour market segmentation”.
