Quality and accessibility of social services
Ensuring that high-quality social services of general interest, such as social security schemes, employment and training services or social housing, are accessible even to the most vulnerable and marginalised people within the EU is key to combating poverty and social exclusion.
A number of Peer Reviews have therefore been set up to promote the exchange of good practices between Member States on improving the quality of such services.
But Member States also face the challenge of adapting their social services of general interest to the major economic and societal changes that are taking place today, such as the ageing of the population, while at the same time facing financial constraints.
The Peer Review thus also aims to help countries to engage in this modernisation process while maintaining high standards of quality and accessibility.
